Yuki Kawauchi celebrates his 70th marathon with a third place

The Japanese Yuki Kawauchi, who was facing the 70th marathon career in his sporting life, was third in Gold Coast (Australia), with a time of 2h 09:18, which is among the best in his record. It will no longer compete in the 42,195 meters to the London World Championships in August. Something that is a no-brainer for all world-class marathoners, but not for this 30-year-old athlete, who usually does more than ten races each season.

The victory was for compatriot Takuya Noguchi, with 2h 08:59 and second place for Kenyan Kenneth Mungana, with 2h 9:04.

In the women's category the victory was for the Ethiopian Abebech Afework (2h 25:34), followed by the Kenyan Mercy Jerotich Kibarus (2h 28:28) and the Japanese Risa Tekenaka (2h 38:32).
